Amazon Pharmacy and Photon Collaborate to Improve Transparency and Access for Patients
Photon enhances its patient experience with real-time inventory availability and dynamic delivery estimates from Amazon Pharmacy.

Brooklyn, NY– April 22, 2025 – Photon Health (“Photon”), an innovative prescription network that empowers patients with medication choice and transparency, announced its collaboration with Amazon Pharmacy, a digital-first, full-service online pharmacy that provides improved price transparency and medication access for patients, with rapid medication delivery.
Photon, which empowers patients to shop between pharmacies based on location and price, is now integrating Amazon Pharmacy’s inventory availability and dynamic delivery promise into its patient experience. This collaboration advances a shared mission to expand access to affordable medications through convenient, customer-centric solutions.
As supply chain challenges persist and pharmacy deserts grow, Photon and Amazon Pharmacy are working together to help patients find the medications they need.
With this integration, Photon has enhanced its text- and web-based patient experience, enabling eligible patients to view real-time in-stock medication status and dynamic delivery estimates for Amazon Pharmacy based on their prescription information.
This increased transparency—made possible by the integration—especially supports patients who encounter out-of-stock issues at local pharmacies, by:
- Reducing uncertainty about medication availability
- Preventing unnecessary trips to pharmacies to search for in-stock medications
- Providing confidence in timely treatment, with doorstep delivery of medications
How does it work?
Photon piloted the Amazon Pharmacy integration with Found, one of the nation’s largest telehealth weight loss clinics. The pilot has shown positive results for patients. Please note: the demo is for illustrative purposes only.
- After a clinician prescribes with Photon, a patient receives a text (SMS) from Photon with a secure link that allows them to view their prescription and evaluate pharmacy fulfillment options.
- From antibiotics to GLP-1s—if the patient’s prescription medication is in-stock at Amazon Pharmacy, they will see that as an option in the pharmacy selection page. A clear “In Stock” label and dynamic delivery promise are shown.
- Patients who select Amazon Pharmacy receive prescription status updates from Amazon Pharmacy via text (SMS) with a link to checkout.
- Patients select their best price, complete checkout, and track their prescription delivery in the same way they’d track any Amazon Pharmacy shipment.
Patients on Photon have long been able to choose pharmacies based on distance, urgency, and price (where available). Now, they can make this decision based on real-time in-stock data and delivery estimates from Amazon Pharmacy. With Amazon’s vast logistics network and automation technology, patients receive medications within 2 days on average—or in a few hours if eligible for Same-Day Delivery.
Building the future of prescription shopping
Photon empowers people to shop for prescriptions like they shop in any retail marketplace: having access to the most convenient and available options for them.
"This level of transparency should be standard for pharmacy,” said Otto Sipe, CEO and Co-Founder of Photon. “All pharmacies should share stock status and ready-time to patients. Amazon is leading the way in transparency here, and we’re psyched to be working with them.”
Amazon Pharmacy’s innovations to overcome barriers to medication access align with Photon’s mission to give patients ownership of their prescriptions.
“At Amazon Pharmacy, we believe transparency is fundamental to delivering a superior customer experience,” said Tanvi Patel, VP and GM of Amazon Pharmacy. “We’re proud to be the first and only pharmacy offering Photon real-time inventory updates and delivery estimates. Combined with our ongoing investments in speed and transparency—across availability, delivery promise, and price—our vision is to ensure every patient has access to the reliable, convenient care they deserve. This collaboration with Photon reflects our shared commitment to putting patients first and removing barriers to accessing medications.”
In the coming months, Photon will continue to roll out the Amazon Pharmacy integration to more Photon provider groups who cover specialties like primary care, weight loss, women’s health, and more. Photon is excited to grow with innovative, consumer-focused companies like Amazon Pharmacy to simplify how people find and afford prescription medications.
Through such collaboration, Photon aims to realize a new standard for transparency, where every patient has visibility into medication stock, price, and fulfillment status across any pharmacy option that works for them.
